Following is some information from our registration packet.  Get the complete registration info here.

Who We Are and How We Are Organized

We are Streetsboro Cub Scout Pack #3280, celebrating over 40 years of sponsorship by American Legion Post 685!  We are open to boys in grades 1 through 5. In Cub Scouts, the “Pack” refers to all boys in grades 1 through 5. The boys are also divided by grade level into smaller groups called “Dens”:

Cub Scouting is a national program with well-defined guidelines, but it is entirely run by parents. In our Pack many parents volunteer in various ways to ensure our program is a success.

For more details please see this Parent Information Guide or visit this website hosted by the Boy Scouts of America.

What We Do

Cub Scouting is a year-round program. In our Pack most activity occurs during the school year, but we try to offer at least one Pack event each month during the summer to keep the boys engaged in the program.

Activities consist of a combination of meetings and special Pack events. Dens typically meet twice monthly (on Tuesday evenings). The entire Pack meets once monthly (typically on a Thursday evening or Saturday), with the primary focus being to award recognition to each boy's achievements in scouting.

Our special Pack events last year included:

  • Halloween Campout at Mohican Wilderness
  • Haunted Hayride at Camp Butler (in Peninsula)
  • Raingutter Regatta (boat race)
  • Winter Campout at Camp Butler (in Peninsula)
  • Pinewood Derby (car race)
  • Blue & Gold Banquet (special awards banquet)
  • Pack Sock Battle
  • Overnighter Camp-in at the Columbus Zoo
  • Akron Aeros Game & Campout at Canal Park
  • Cub Scout Summer Day Camp
  • Webelos Resident Camp

How much does it cost?

The registration cost for new members for the school year is $65, and helps to cover the following costs:

  • National Registration Fees
  • Advancements & Awards
  • Cub Scout Handbook
  • Neckerchief & Slide
  • Several free Pack events

Each new scout will also need to purchase a uniform at a cost of approximately $35 (see the Uniform Guidelines sheet for more details). A subscription to the monthly Boy's Life magazine is available at an additional cost of $12 annually.

Most of our program's costs are covered by the sale of Pecatonica River brand popcorn, which is our Pack's major annual fundraiser. We expect all scouts to participate in this fundraiser to help fund the Pack, since proceeds from the sales go directly towards reducing the cost of Pack events.

How to Join

Although our major recruitment night occurs in the fall, boys are welcome to join our Pack at any time!

Please print out and complete the following forms:

  • New Youth Application: please print page 5 in color, and complete it using the instructions on the other pages (you don't have to print the other pages).
  • Health and Medical Record: please print and complete Parts A and B.  We are required to have a current (within 12 months) medical record on file for each scout enrolled in our Pack.  Attaching a copy of the medical insurance card is not required.

Bring these completed forms along with a check for $55 made payable to "Pack 3280" to one of our upcoming meetings, or contact the Cubmaster for more details.
